The head-drop that wakes you every time

You almost fall asleep, then your chin hits your chest.

You get the window seat, close your eyes, and start to drift. Then your head tips forward, catches, and jolts you awake. Ten minutes later it happens again. By the time you land your neck is stiff, your shoulders ache from bracing yourself upright, and you feel worse than when you boarded.

A folded jacket slides away. An inflatable pillow goes soft the moment your full head weight settles into it. Microbead pillows squash flat. What actually works is firm, shaped support with a front that stops your chin dropping, which is exactly what this pillow is built around.

  • Memory foam that holds its shape under real head weight
  • Overlapping front closure stops the forward chin-drop
  • 360° support around the neck, not just at the back
  • Adjustable to fit most adult neck sizes
  • Comes with a carry bag that clips to your luggage

How to use it

The trick is the opening, and most people get it wrong.

A standard U-pillow puts the gap at the front, which is precisely where your head needs support. Turning the opening around, or fastening the overlapping ends across the front, is what stops the chin-drop. Two minutes of setup is the difference between dozing and actually sleeping.

Jarixo Memory Foam Travel Neck Pillow for Airplane & Car
  1. 01

    1. Decide where the opening goes

If your head drops forward, put the opening at the back of your neck so the thick part sits under your chin. If you lean sideways against a window, put the opening at the front. Try both on the same trip and keep whichever works.

  2. 02

    2. Fasten the closure snug

Bring the ends together across the front and fasten them so the pillow feels supportive rather than loose. Snug is the point: a loose neck pillow lets your head roll, which is the whole problem you are trying to solve.

  3. 03

    3. Recline slightly and settle

Tilt the seat back a little if you can, rest your head straight back into the foam and let it take the weight. Give the memory foam a minute to soften and mould to your neck before you decide how it feels.

Why this one

The anti-head-drop design, at half the price of the brand famous for it

The travel pillow market splits neatly. Cheap U-pillows do nothing about the chin-drop. The pillows that solve it, with overlapping chin-supporting ends, sell for 35 to 60 dollars. This is that design at 29.99.

01

Overlapping ends, not an open U

The front ends overlap and fasten, so there is support where your chin would otherwise fall. An ordinary U-pillow leaves that gap wide open, which is why your head still drops.

02

Memory foam, not air or beads

Inflatable pillows go soft under real weight and bead pillows squash flat. Memory foam compresses to the shape of your neck and then holds there for the whole flight.

03

Adjustable for most necks

The closure adjusts rather than sitting at one fixed width, so it works across a wide range of adult neck sizes and you can loosen it as you settle.

04

Carry bag included

It weighs about 12 ounces and packs into the included bag, which clips to a backpack or carry-on handle so it never eats luggage space.

The details

What arrives, and the full specification

A memory foam travel neck pillow with overlapping front ends, so your chin does not drop and jolt you awake. The Jarixo travel pillow gives 360 degree support around the neck and holds its shape under real head weight, for flights, long drives, trains and commutes. Rated 4.82 out of 5 by 500 verified buyers, our most-reviewed product.

Ordinary U-shaped pillows leave the front wide open, which is exactly where your head falls. This one closes across the front with an adjustable hook-and-loop fastening, putting foam under your chin. It is the same anti-head-drop design that the best-known travel pillow brands charge 35 to 60 dollars for.

Why buyers choose it

  • Overlapping front ends that fasten across the chin, stopping the forward head-drop.
  • Slow-rebound memory foam that moulds to your neck and stays supportive, where inflatable and bead pillows go flat.
  • Adjustable closure that fits a wide range of adult neck sizes.
  • Carry bag included, clipping to a backpack or carry-on handle so it never takes luggage space.
  • Three colors: Dark Gray, Deep Black and Navy Blue.

What is in the box

The travel neck pillow and a black carry and storage bag.

How to use it

If your head drops forward, put the opening at the back of your neck so the thick part sits under your chin. If you lean sideways against a window, put the opening at the front. Fasten the ends snug, recline slightly, and give the foam a minute to soften and mould before you judge the fit.

Before you buy

Questions people ask about this travel pillow

Will it really stop my head falling forward?

That is what the overlapping front ends are for. Fasten them across the front so there is foam under your chin, rather than leaving the U open at the front like a basic travel pillow. Most people who say a neck pillow never worked for them were using an open U with the gap in the wrong place.

Is it firm or soft?

Supportive rather than plush. Memory foam feels firm at first, then softens with your body heat over a minute or two and moulds to your neck. If you want something pillowy and soft, this is not that; the firmness is what stops your head moving.

Will it fit me?

It is sized for adults and the closure adjusts rather than being fixed, so it covers a wide range of neck sizes. Loosen it if it ever feels tight at the throat. It is not intended for young children.

Does it take up luggage space?

It weighs about 12 ounces and comes with a carry bag that clips to a backpack strap or a carry-on handle, so it travels on the outside of your bag rather than inside it.

Can I use it anywhere other than a plane?

Yes. Buyers use it on long drives as passengers, on trains and coaches, and for naps in a desk chair or recliner. Anywhere you are trying to sleep sitting upright, it does the same job.

M
Margart Kuhn

I liked it, it feels comfortable, it's portable thanks to its carrying bag, it will be useful for my long trips.

D
Derek Jenkins

The cover can be removed and washed.
But maybe because it's a neck strap, even when tightened as much as possible, there's still some slack left.

G
Griselda Lubowitz

It seems good, I'll take my time testing it on the plane.

The product is good. The other product was too thick, so I ordered this one, but it's a bit thin.

R
Riva Ortiz

Exactly as advertised. Very comfortable.

F
Francis Brekke

Nicely and carefully made, but for me the foam is too soft and doesn't support the head well enough when wrapped around the neck. Designed more for smaller people.
The cover can be easily removed, which is a plus.

A
Alita Kuhn

Very comfortable and fully matches the description, I was satisfied with the purchase.

G
Gerry Toy

The head doesn't tilt to the side, so I can sleep comfortably.
